In the 15th century not much had changed significantly with the use of handbags the one main thing that changed was when they were given. This was the century when handbags started to become more of a well known accessories of women's and this is when most people would have heard of handbags being used rather than it being a lot more early on. given as a gift from groom to bride and were told to either have embroided love stories on it or covered in luxury adornment. They were usually a pouch like handbag and not anything like what we know as a handbag today but this was the time when they began to slowly develop as does everything in fashion. These handbags given by grooms were given by the less rich aswell but the higher prestige and the more amount of money that you had the more glamorous the bag was.

The next big thing that became well known was the seal bag which was created for lord chancellor. It was also used to show social status and no-one else would have this specific bag. It was used to carry their everyday items around and also said to of been a way for them to be identified.

Ecclesiastical purses then became very significant which were used to carry relics and coropals.
